BYD Seal 08 Launches in China from ¥196,900 — What the Current Seal Costs to Import Today

BYD's new Ocean Network flagship sedan, the Seal 08, launched in China with EV and plug-in hybrid powertrains starting at ¥196,900 (~$28,980 USD). Here's what the outgoing Seal already costs FOB from DriveSino's live inventory.

BYD has launched the Seal 08, a new mid-to-large flagship sedan under its Ocean Network series, with retail pricing in China starting at ¥196,900 (roughly $28,980 USD) for entry configurations. The Seal 08 is offered with both pure-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains, and BYD is positioning it as the range-topping sedan in the Ocean lineup, with up to 1,660 km of combined range on the PHEV variant and flash-charging support on the EV.

Not Yet on the Used Market — But the Outgoing Seal Already Is

As a brand-new model, the Seal 08 hasn't reached China's secondhand market yet — DriveSino sources export-ready vehicles from China's domestic used-car market, not new-car dealer stock, so a just-launched model like this typically takes months before used units start appearing. The existing BYD Seal it's positioned above, however, is already well represented: DriveSino's live inventory currently lists 155 Seal units at FOB China prices from $13,540 to $31,670, depending on year, trim, and mileage.

What This Means for Import Buyers

If the Seal 08 follows the pattern of other recent BYD flagship launches, expect used units to begin surfacing within 6–12 months as early buyers upgrade or trade in. In the meantime, the current-generation Seal remains a genuinely comparable option — same Ocean Network positioning, already proven in DriveSino's export pipeline.
